Winter Foundation Routine

Friday 9 January 2015

Winter has finally hit us hard and for those who are also in Canada you know exactly what i'm talking about!
With the changing of the weather our skin and hair gets affected by it and so its important to also change up your makeup routine.

For my winter foundation routine i opted for products that will give me a healthy natural glow.

PRIMER: Good things miracle mattifier; This product is a moisturiser but i also use it as a primer because it helps in controlling my T zone area from becoming extra oily over time. It feels so smooth on the skin and has a pleasant fresh scent.

FOUNDATION: MAC Cosmetics Mineralized Moisture foundation in NC42; This foundation will give you the ultimate glow! It's very liquidy and so works really well with stippling brushes and this shade matches me so well during the winter months. If you have extremely oily skin you want to set this foundation really well with a powder because it does tend to get "oily" looking over time.  For those with extremely try skin, this if your best friend!!!

SETTING POWDER: Maybelline FitMe Powder in 340; This is my holy grail powder to set my foundation and in shade 360 i use to contour. These powder are so smooth and long lasting, its a dream! I love the fact that it does not give me cake face or change the finish of my foundation. A MUST HAVE!!!

CONCEALER: LA Girl HD Pro Concealer in medium beige; I opted for this concealer because its really affordable, blends well into the skin and is a shade lighter therefore i can also highlight under my eyes as well as cover my dark circles. Many have compared it to the MAC pro longwear concealer but i haven't put it to the test. Another great concealer that i would recommend is the NARS creamy radiant concealer, amazing coverage and smooth texture.

Those products are the base of my foundation routine, it allows me to have flawless looking skin to work on.
After you apply your foundation and concealer, you skin looks near perfect but super flat due to the fact that all your natural shadows have been covered and your skin is now one tone. So its very important to add "life" back to your face by contouring with a darker colour and this is going to give your face dimension; adding some blush brings warmth to the skin, and when you add a little "glow" by highlighting your skin looks healthy and luminous.

Hope you guys enjoy this blog and look out for more weekly blogs.
