Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze & Glow

Thursday 20 August 2015

After debating for months if I should really splurge on the Charlotte Tilbury film star bronze and glow duo I closed my eyes to the price and made my order off of beautylish.com.

The packaging on this product is soooooo beautiful and luxurious, its so pretty I just want to display it on my vanity! lol A beauty golden bronze colour with a glow finish, and the patterns on it just adds so much dimension. And the product inside is so well pigmented and smooth to the touch, blends out beautifully on the skin and into your other makeup products (blush)

Before few weeks ago there was only one shade available which was more for light to medium skin tones.
The highlight portion is a pale yellow gold that is very pigmented and gives the most beautiful intense glow to the cheeks but still appropriate for everyday wear. Reminds me of BeccsXJaclynHill Champagne pop shimmering skin perfecter just a little more simple and toned down.
The sculpting portion is a mid tone brown with a cool undertone and surprisingly it has a shin to it which I really wasn't expecting because I thought that any "sculpting" product should be matte.  When applied to the skin it does look really natural and give the appearance of a show rather then a harsh contour line, and the shimmer doesn't show up on the face too much.
Clearly this shade doesn't show up on my skin tone too much as I have gotten darker with this HOT summer but as winder roles in I'm sure I will get more use out of the sculpting portion.

Now lets talk about the the new shade that she came out with which is geared towards medium to deep skin tones. I'm so happy that the packaging is still the same gorgeous gold, only thing that has changed is the shade obvious!
The highlight portion is a warm tone peachy gold colour which swatches just as beautifully as the first duo and the peachy/orange tone really compliments deeper skin tones. It gives a really beautiful "bridal" glow kind of highlight. I actually decided to place this one in my freelance bridal makeup kit.
NOW the sculpting portion I was not extremely impressed with because if you are going to create a product for deep skin tones you have to take into consideration that there are many shades of deeper skin tones and clearly this sculpting powder will not show up on someone of an NW50 complexion.
Again the sculpting powder has a shine to it with a bronzey colour to it. on myself it shows up beautifully and blends out really well but I just wish the powder was a few shades darker.

Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Color

Thursday 6 August 2015

I discovered that Laura Mercier has a liquid lipstick and so I had to give them a try for myself.
As we all can tell, every beauty company is coming with liquid lipsticks as they are extremely on trend, especially in n Instagram.
The Laura Mercier counter can be found at Nordstrom here in Canada and it have a huge selection of her products.
There are 9 shades to select from, retail for $34 and they range from nude pinks to deep purple, there is definitely a color for everyone.

PACKAGING:

The packaging is very slick and high end, love that I can clearly see the colors through the dupe and they actually swatch exactly the same. The handle is a dark silver with a glossy finish and it has a flat doe foot applicator.

PRODUCT:

The colors are very pigments and apply very smooth with no patches or stickiness.
It has a very light texture once on the lips, and feels super moisturizing. Very different from many liquid lipsticks that feel super drying and you need to prep your lips before hand.
Only issue I have with them is that they do not try down to a complete matte, its more of a satin finish and can be easily removed with once swipe of a makeup remover.
Therefore I don't feel like this product is a "true" liquid lipstick.
I will say that they are long lasting but they will rub off when eating.
My convulsion is that its still a great product if your looking for a long lasting lipstick with a satin finish that is easy to apply and can be touched up. But if you were in search of a liquid to matte extremely long wearing lip product, then this is not the one.

MAY BEAUTY FAVOURTIES + MOVIES

Friday 5 June 2015

So I haven't blogged in such a long time and I think it's time i get my act together and get this blog site up to date! lol
I'm back with my May beauty favorites as well as my top 2 movies and book. Something I've never shared during my monthly favorites video and thought it would be a good idea to share other things about myself during these monthly videos.

So for the month of May I did get the chance to try out a few new products (high end and drugstore) and I'm so glade that 90% of them i truly was impressed with.

PRODUCTS:
Maybelline Master primer - Blur + illuminate $10
Can we just give it up to maybelline for stepping up their game at the drugstore!
This primer has a lotion consistency with a illuminating pink tone to it when blended onto the skin.
I love this under my foundation because it gives my skin this natural glow and doesn't at all look greasy unlike some other liquid illuminators. I don't think it did much in terms of blurring out pores and fine lines but it did add a glow to the finish of my foundations. Also it's at a great price point and they carry two other primers in the master line.

Lorea infallible Pro-Matte Foundation $15 (shade 108)
After using this product once it became a holy grail product!!! I'm so in love with the finish and coverage of this foundation and have been using it non stop since a purchased it.
It gives a medium to build-able full coverage. a demi-matee (satin) finish and lasts on the skin all day!
This foundation is easy to blend and doesn't oxidize of separate on the skin. Definitely a drugstore MUST HAVE!

Hard Candy - 3 Times a charm $10
Hands down Hard Candy has the best drugstore highlighters!!!! Beautiful glow with now glitter chunks and they have such a variate to mate all skin tones. This one is a pretty pinky champagne colour, super pigmented and intense! For the price its amazing quality.

NARS - Deep  Throat Blush $37
I love my NARS blushes and want to grow this collection because these are top quality products that will last for a long time and last on in skin also.  This colour is a NARS cult favorite and I joined with group because I love this blush. Its very subtle, gives a peachy pink colour to the cheeks with a glow. It does have a few glitter particles but nothing too over tone when placed on the skin.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo - Bad To The Bronze $7
This is the most smooth and pigmented  cream eyeshadow that I own. Glides on to the lids so smoothly and the colour pay off is insane for the price! I own many of these colour tattoos but this shade it my absolute favourite!!!! Its a metalic bronzey colour that's not  too dark and reflects on the light so beautifully. This shade suites every skin tone and just gives so much attention to the eye and not to mention it stayed put on the eyes all day long. MUST HAVE!

TARTE Clay Paint Liner $29 (comes with the liner brush)
This gel liner is super black and dries MATTE!!!! It's creamy and glides on the eyes very smoothly. I think for the price point its great that you also get a liner brush along with your product. Over all its a great liner for those who like create a winged liner with a cream liner.

HourGlass Ambient Lighting Palette $60
This product is a must have in my makeup kit for all of my brides!
These powders are finishing powders that give you a glow from within. Each powder it supposed to mimic different light settings. Many people think that these powders are highlighter and are very much disappointed when used that way because it will give you an extremely simple highlight. I use these powders to set under the eyes and give it a bright eye effect, I use it to set my whole face to give me an all over glow  and healthy appearance to the skin and/or I will add it to the cheek bones to give a very natural glow.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Artist Palette $39 (limited edition)
This palette has been highly talked about on Instagram and Youtube, do I think it's a MUST have....Not really but I do enjoy the palette and find it a great one to add to a collection. I love the colours that where picked out and that they are very pigmented. I love that the price it more on the affordable side of high end products and you do get your money's worth because of the amount of product your getting. I've been using it a lot since purchasing it and really do enjoy it for pop's of colour BUT I don't think it's a must have.

Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner $13 (small bottle)
You need this in your life!
I have never used a brush cleaner that cleans my brushes, makes them smell amazing and all at the same times dries them!!!! This product is perfect for spot cleaning in between deep washing your brushes or if your a busy MUA this is perfect for in between clients. DEFINITELY A MUST HAVE.

Well guys thats it for my May favourites and I hoe you enjoyed this video/blog post. Please leave me a comment on your favourites and recommendations.

Thanks for reading/watching and stay Blessed. xoxo

REVIEW: MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation (NC42)

Wednesday 8 April 2015

As part of my #macattack month I'am reviewing a few MAC cosmetics products and today i'm reviewing the studio sculpt foundation in NC42

MORE DETAILS COMING SOON.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Thursday 5 March 2015

Everyone and their mama has been raving about the new NARS foundation that was released at Sephora about a month ago.
Being the beauty addict that i'am and in the name of being a professional blogger (lol always my excuse) I had to get my hands on this little guy and try it out for myself.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation retails for $57 (canadian)
Contains 30ml
No SPF & Oil free
Parabens Free
Available in 20 Shades
Wears for 16 hours

MY SHADE: Syracuse

What else you need to know:

“It’s the first time we’ve ever done a high-coverage foundation. We waited for the right moment, when true weightless innovation was finally available. It had to be comfortable, high-coverage, and incredibly long-lasting—the formula really had to be perfect. It’s high-performance, but still very soft and natural.”— FranƧois Nars, Founder and Creative Director

So i tested this foundation for a good two weeks before finally coming to the conclusion that.....I LOVES IT!
This product is perfect for those who want a medium coverage but with a very natural look and feel at the same time.
During the application it's super easy to blend into the skin with a flat top kabuki brush such as the Sigma F80. It will give you a semi matte finish without making your skin dull or dry.
It's super long lasting and will not fade or change in colour over time.

When I wear this foundation I don't have to set it with a powder and it will not become extra oily over time which was a big hit for me as i hate using setting powders on my skin.

THE NOT SO GOOD PART:
1. I will say that if you have a lot of texture or dry skin then you really want to exfoliate and hydrate your skin very well before applying this foundation or it will cling onto those areas and make them even more noticeable. I would recommend using a hydrating primer if you do have dry skin and want this product to work for you.
2. In my opinion this product will not give you the ultimate full coverage, it will come lose to that but for those who have really bad acne scares this foundation will not completely cover them up.
3. Also I feel like if you try to add more then two layers to the skin. this foundation will start to look cakey real fast! Therefore less is definitely more when it comes to this product.

All in all I'm giving this baby an 8/10
I'm not giving it a full 10/10 because even though i find the packing very high end looking it is a little too bulky for me and not very travel friendly. Also this formula may not work out too well with those with dry/textured skin. and lastly it is quite on the pricy side therefore not affordable to many.

Hope you guys enjoyed this blog post and until the next one...STAY BLESSED

REVIEW: Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation

Saturday 21 February 2015

Hey Beauties

I'm back with the a #review on the #Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless foundation.

I purchased this little guy at walmart for $7.95 which i thought was super affordable compared to other brands in the drugstore that usually range from $12 - $20 here in Canada.
I got shade 230 and it's a little light for me but when i apply the rest of my makeup it' pretty much unnoticeable.

The bottle contains 30ml of product,  has no scent to it, it's pretty liquidy in the consistency and blends very well with a #beautyblender or a kabuki brush. The packaging is a simple glass bottle at a small size, with lots of information at the back but unfortunately this bottle doesn't come with a pump.

When released, this product came out with 7 different shades of foundation and 4 Fit Me powders that ranged in the lighter shades but I do believe that at certain locations now they carry a larger range of shades to select from.

I tested this foundation out for two weeks and came to the conclusion that it performs somewhat accurate to the description on the bottle. I have combo skin and i found this left me with a very matte finish and extremely pore-less!! It also gave me a medium coverage with one layer and i do believe that its build-able to full coverage. This product lasted me 6 hours without any primers, it didnt change in color or finish, and it didn't oxidize or irritate my skin at all.

I loved that fact that you couldn't see my pores and the great coverage BUT i hated the extreme matte look that in my opinion left my skin looking a little dull and dry.
I have dry skin on my nose that tends to peel and with this foundation it was very noticeable therefore i don't know if this foundation would be compatible with those that have dry skin.

I really don't like when foundation sits on top of my skin and looks some what heavy and in my opinion this is one of those foundations that will not really blend with your skin completely but if you have extremely oily skin then i feel like this would be perfect as the natural oils of your skin will balance out that super matte look.

All in all this is a great product for the price point and would be perfect for those with very oily skin.

I give this foundation a 7 out of 10.

Winter Foundation Routine

Friday 9 January 2015

Winter has finally hit us hard and for those who are also in Canada you know exactly what i'm talking about!
With the changing of the weather our skin and hair gets affected by it and so its important to also change up your makeup routine.

For my winter foundation routine i opted for products that will give me a healthy natural glow.

PRIMER: Good things miracle mattifier; This product is a moisturiser but i also use it as a primer because it helps in controlling my T zone area from becoming extra oily over time. It feels so smooth on the skin and has a pleasant fresh scent.

FOUNDATION: MAC Cosmetics Mineralized Moisture foundation in NC42; This foundation will give you the ultimate glow! It's very liquidy and so works really well with stippling brushes and this shade matches me so well during the winter months. If you have extremely oily skin you want to set this foundation really well with a powder because it does tend to get "oily" looking over time.  For those with extremely try skin, this if your best friend!!!

SETTING POWDER: Maybelline FitMe Powder in 340; This is my holy grail powder to set my foundation and in shade 360 i use to contour. These powder are so smooth and long lasting, its a dream! I love the fact that it does not give me cake face or change the finish of my foundation. A MUST HAVE!!!

CONCEALER: LA Girl HD Pro Concealer in medium beige; I opted for this concealer because its really affordable, blends well into the skin and is a shade lighter therefore i can also highlight under my eyes as well as cover my dark circles. Many have compared it to the MAC pro longwear concealer but i haven't put it to the test. Another great concealer that i would recommend is the NARS creamy radiant concealer, amazing coverage and smooth texture.

Those products are the base of my foundation routine, it allows me to have flawless looking skin to work on.
After you apply your foundation and concealer, you skin looks near perfect but super flat due to the fact that all your natural shadows have been covered and your skin is now one tone. So its very important to add "life" back to your face by contouring with a darker colour and this is going to give your face dimension; adding some blush brings warmth to the skin, and when you add a little "glow" by highlighting your skin looks healthy and luminous.

Hope you guys enjoy this blog and look out for more weekly blogs.

Thanks for stopping by

Karina xoxo
